Cupcake Blog!!

I just found the coolest blog site on Sunday. Due to Carl's love of cupcakes, I am always searching for cupcake recipes and icing (that the biggie). He also hates buttercream icing. Can you believe that! I am trying to get him out of the Dunkin Hines fazes as well. Sorry, if I offend anyone but he just bought me a beautiful kitchen aid (Caviar color) and I have to put it to use. I have been researching website for cupcakes recipes and I found this coolest blog. Check it out Cupcake Bakeshop by Chocylit! She also has links to other cool dessert sites as well. It is very impressive.

Septa Strike Day 1-5

I have been walking to and fro from home except Monday. Carl was kind enough to pick me up but unfortunately we learned fast... we were stuck in traffic for 1 hour. It usually take us 15 minutes to get back to Northern Liberties from the Free Library. So, Carl went on strike for driving. Dena became my walking home buddy. I counted the miles and the total miles I have done so far is almost 5.4 miles a day. The good thing that came from this strike is I will lose the weight I needed. Carl kept his promise and wait for me at his job at 4th and Market and walk the rest of the miles with me home. Thank God the weather has been nice! I have not yet felt the need to ride the library, illegal immigrant shuttle yet, as Lamont called it .

Our vacation

We have finally went on our first vacation together not visiting relatives. Sorry we love our family but we needed this vacation. We went to California. We spent 4 days in Anaheim/Los Angeles and 2 days in San Diego. Oh, we did visit family. Bummer...Oh well, it was worth it. Carl and I visit his Uncle Odell and his family in Los Angeles. He has not seen them for fifteen years. We also went to Normandie Avenue, where Carl and his family used to live when he was 12 ( I think). We also visited his middle school. We also had the best Chinese food in Chinatown. The restaurant is called Golden Dragon. This place has the best Chinese food.

We went to Dineyland for 2 days and it was magical. The Disney's fireworks was amazing. I have finally convinced Carl that there are better fireworks out there than Philly. We also went to Phouvy and Dave's wedding. Congrats! Thanks for inviting us and also giving us a wonderful and well deserve vacation.

We went to San Diego on Sunday. I love this place. If you have not been there, you must must check it out. The weather is fabulous and the scenery is gorgeous.

Than we have to leave. We ran into some drama getting to LAX. We left at 2am from San Diego. On our way back, we thought we were heading to the wrong direction. We thought we were heding to Tijuana because there was a border patrol when we hit Carlsbad and it was located in the middle of the 5 freeway. 5 lane freeway and border patrol! I freaked of course. After that I fell asleep thiking drama is over. We thought we will see signs for LAX or Los Angeles all the way up and we were wrong. The signs ran out and Pasadena was approching. It was close to traffic jam hours in LA. I told Carl to asked for direction. I was cranky due to the fast awakening from my slumber. He did ask and the guy was part way correct. When we head to 105 east, I noticed that the airpot is located on the west part of LA not east from our handy AAA map. I asked him to make a U turn. 4:58 one of our tires from Budget had a flat. This was the scariest moment. People in LA does not know how to drive. We had to pull over on the shoulder. It was so convenient that this tire has to be the left back one. I was so nervous for Carl. I watched too much Cops and seen too many accident where people gets hit. I called Budget for help and they said they were not sure if they could get to us on time. So, Carl changed the tire because our flight leaves at 7:45. Cars were speeding down these highway at least 90 mph. Carl parked the car in a merging lane but these people would actually go to this lane to pass other cars. I can't believe and had to stand there and watched nervously. The happy ending...we make it back home save and sound.

My best friend's wedding

Look at her, my best friend, Phouvy. On July 23rd, Dave and Phouvy have finally made it legal. They have united as one. I am so happy for them. We had a great time and it was very intresting to see the two traditional marriage ceremony. They had their Chinese tea ceremony in the morning and the traditional Laotian ceremony at two. Their reception was at 6pm. We wished you two the best and a life fill with love, happiness, and many babies.

LIVE 8 Concert in Philadelphia

Carl and I went to the Live 8 concert in Philadelphia with my brother and his roommate, Mark. The concert was amazing and there were tons of people, over a million I believed.

It really touched me that all these artists gathered together to bring us awareness but the sad part is that some of these people who attended the concert was there to pick up someone. I hope whoever read this to go sign the list on AOL Music or Live 8 website to help these innocent children.

Remember this... Every 3 second a child dies in Africa.

Trying to conceive a boy

Let me clear the air...Carl and I are not trying to conceive anything! Phew!

My best friend has an agenda...she trying to conceive a baby boy. Is there a method to help her conceive a boy?
Well, here are some of the myths that I found online, if youa re interested in trying.

If You Want a Boy...

> Eat more meat (the redder the better).

> Stick with salty snacks — pretzels, chips, and so on.

> Dads-to-be: Stock up on soda (especially cola drinks)

or you can purchase this book by Dr. Shettles.

Dr. Shettles created "The Shettles Method" or "The GenSelect Method" of baby gender selection increases your chances of conceiving a boy that you have always wanted!

Anyway, I think she need a discussion with her husband's swimmers and his genes.

Dylan's Trip to the Zoo.

We had a really good time babysitting this weekend. It was an experience for Carl and I. My dad was so excited to take him to the zoo but Dylan does not seem very interested in the animals. It was not a bad time. I really missed that little guy when he went home.

What am I supposed to do now on Sunday nights?

I can't wait to find out what is going on. Is this the final show for "Charmed"? What is going on? Desperate Housewives...I am sad that Bree's husband died. That is not fair. I want him to find out that the stupid pharmacist is the one that is poisoning him. Not fair! Gray's Anatomy...now there is going be some real drama. I can't wait!

Corey B. and her Cat: It's Nero's Birthday

Corey is planning to make a cake for Nero today. The adventure part is how she is going to do it. Here's the list of what you need to make Corey's special cake.

1 can of wet cake food (Preferably your cat's favorite)
1 cup of cat dry food (Corey prefers Purina Cat Chow)
1 candle

Slowly get the wet food out of the can. This will be the foundation of your cake. After you get it out, decorate the wet food with Cat Chow. Here's your cake. Tough Huh? I think so too. Happy Birthday, Nero!

Corey....Crazy friend of mine!

I have to write something regarding Corey. She feels left out. Anyway, she is a nutcase that I have known for years. Just kidding. She is a great friend that I cherish and wish nothing but the best for her. She is now working at the MS Society in Philadelphia. She also has a crazy cat name Nero. She is in love with a wonderful man name Mike. Soon I will create a series called the Adventures of Corey B. and her cat. HA! HA! Do you feel left out now, Corey?

Miles from Nowhere

Rico's new book is out. The title is "Miles from Nowhere: & Other Selected Works of Verse and Spoken Words." Check it out! You can now purchase this book through his website.

Funny Stuff!

How we feel when we call for tech support.

Sophia Kinsella's Shopaholic Series

I just finished 3 of the Shopaholic Seriess by Sophia Kinsella and I love it! I was surprise how much I enjoyed it becuase I don't think I was a chicklit fan like Jen and Dena. But I have to admit it I do. Her books are hilarious and witty. I almost feel like I am Becky but thank God I have my shopping under control right now.

Salvador Dali's Exhibition at Philadelphia Museum of Art

Carl and I went to the exhibition yesterday. It was my birthday present. Dali was an amazing artist and I was surprise how much I enjoyed this show. I never care for the special exhibition at the PMA but this one really impressed me. So what ever you do check it out before it leaves.

I have a blog!

What is a blog? That was my question. I was so excited I have one that I have no clue what it is but thanks to Sonia...it is an on line journal. Anyway, I can tell you about exciting stories and events from friends and families.
