progress of getting off pain killers

My headache was very intense last night. It was 24 hours off pain killers and I decided to sleep in the guest bedroom, so Carl can get a better sleep. I think it might be the bed or maybe meditation was working. Slept till 7 without any headaches. This morning, my headaches are less intense. My shoulder and neck muscles are not as tight. One day at a time! Chamomile tea works too.

In a happy note, I was watching "The View" and the ladies were saying by 2020, men will be able to have sex with robots. Crazy!

Weaning of pain killers

I have been taking so much painkillers for headache that I think my body is now immune to tylenol and motrin and oxycodone. Now I have tension headaches which begin on my temporal muscles. I did not realize the doc cut them and now they are reconnecting back. So, when my neck stiff up and shoulder, a headache is coming. I have made appt to get acupuncture on Sat. I have been drinking chamomile tea to calm my nerves, stress, and anxiety. I am using something like a ben gay to relieve the tension which did help last night. I will conquer this like I did my previous headache.

Xmas was good except I usually get up at 2am and try to go the bathroom. I did not turn the light on and ran into the wall. I have a very sexy goose egg... chilling on my forehead. My dad thought I crack my skull.

after brain surgery

I had a craniotomy on November 30th to get a tumor removed by my right ventricle. Surgery lasted for 6 hours and the first thing I remember after surgery was the anesthesiologist removing the tube from my throat. I remember struggling for air. Then I was dreaming about coding for work. I guess I remember how to code.

How my tumor was found? I have been getting treated for severe migraines after a car accident in 2003. I was having headaches for 3 week straight and had no idea what the problem was. Was taking my usual meds and by this time my body was so drain from it. went for an MRI in late Oct of 2006 and my doc called me on 11/4/2006 that they found a tumor. How I remember the dates? I called my aunt to wish her happy birthday and also told her the news. My emotions was up and down.

A year later went back for my 6 months MRI check up and the tumor started getting active. It grew and my neurosurgeon... Dr. Evans, who is fantastic, told me that surgery is needed.

My surgery was schedule on November 30th. Was able to celebrate Thanksgiving and Xmas. I hated when they inserted the IV and a-line, which was the worst of all tubes in me. Blood test sucks. I was in ICU for 3 days after surgery. All my friends came to visit. My folks, grandmother, brother and cousin, Jo, from London came to support. It was hard for me to see the anxiety of my grandmother's face when I was able to open my eyes. I was very morphine up.

Everyday at 4-5am all the doctors will come and checked on me. It was nice but I wanted sleep. Usual procedure was smiled for me and squeezed my hands. Lift your leg. I did not realized that my left side of my body was not actually functioning correctly after surgery. I wished I have a picture of my droopy face and I had wondering left eye. Monday... I asked one of the docs to please remove the tube that is sticking out the side of my head, which was use to drain back up fluid from the brain.

I was moved to a regular room on Tuesday and at this time... the awful experience began. I had a Foley catheter for surgery and my bladder forgot how to pee. After they remove that Foley, I had bad bladder spasm and felt like bladder infection. I thought I had to pee every 5 minutes. Carl was so upset that day. They had to drain me every 8 hours. Later a urologist came and realized I was retaining too much urine in my bladder. I was retaining up to 1 liter and advised to drain me every 4 hours. Not very pleasant.

I was very up set that my bladder forgot to function and was getting inpatient. It was a natural process for us to pee and poop. I started to get hemorrhoids due to the stress. Not another pleasant situation. I was able to get discharge when my bladder started to function again. I was discharge on Tuesday 12/10/2007 and was glad to be home. Hospital was great, nurses was great and so was my doctors but food was horrible. Lost weight!

At home recovery, I wish I have one of those uncomfortable hospital bed now. I am not able to sleep laying flat. Not sure why, I develop a major headache. Have to sleep upright not sure if anything is not being drain properly. Got a ct scan and everything looks fine. Today is the worst. I actually felt so sick that I feel like throwing up from these headaches. Tylenol is not helping and had to take heavy duty pain killers. This is the second day that I am not able to sleep. Getting really drain. Almost ask Carl to drive me to the hospital due to the pain and nauseous feeling.

exercise bike

I am glad for my exercise bike. Sound so Pollyanna! Well, I am awake again in the middle of the night. I have decided to exercise when I wake up to drain my insomnia energy. So, far it is working. Not sure how Carl will feel if I continue doing this if I actually woke up at 3am. Right now is only 1:32am. We shall see.

Give thanks

Thursday is Thanksgiving and I have a a juicy 22lb turkey that I am excited to cook. This year, I decided I am going to brine the turkey the day before Thanksgiving day. I really don't like roasted poultry meat unless it is roast duck from Chinatown. It feels so tasteless and dry. SO, I read if I brine it... it will be moist and delicious. So, I am hoping that my turkey will rule Thanksgiving day.

We are expecting 20 guests and some will be heading to our house later for drinks. It is exciting to see the family but yet it is really stressful for me. Look I have been awake since 1:49 and it 4:16 and I am still awake. I am having major insomnia. Everything is freaking me out and I wish I can just tell my body is ok. I have been working out hoping that will tired me out... not working. I cannot take any sleeping agent because I have been taking one almost everyday. Now I am trying sleeping tea. We shall see.

I am getting surgery next Friday. Not a easy one. They are finally removing Kenny. Now hoping all goes well and I recover in one week. Yeah one week. I need to just sleep and relax. I tried meditation... guess it is not working. I even had a couple of drinks with Kim and Rodrigo and no luck. Fell asleep for like 4 hours and now I am awake.

I am going to try laying down again. Have a good Thanksgiving everyone.

Comfort Food

Fall is usually the time that I want to bake and make comfort food. This time I am not trying to make stews, pot pies, muffins or whatever Americans consider comfort food. I decided to dig deep into my cultural heritage and search for Southeast Asian recipes. I was born in Malaysia and never forgot the fantastic taste of my country's food. Also, I need to save money.

This morning, I spend some times searching through several fantastic recipe sites. One of my favorite is Rasa Malaysia. I am loving her recipes and can't wait to try it out. Also, I adore Indian snacks and I found Spicyana. She has my favorite spicy meat puffs pastry which you can change to vegetarian. Off to cooking. Later!

My tooth

Well, I chipped my tooth. How did I do that you ask? I was eating beef jerky and felt crunch on something hard. I thought it was the pepper from the delicious beef jerky and kept eating. Suddenly I felt that my tooth was a bit jagged. Bloody thing, chipped. At least it is dead from the root canal.

By way, we were playing with Molly and tickling her belly and she farted on us. Little air release like pssst. Did it smell? This is the second time she farted on us. Once she got so excited from us petting her.

Carl is a grand-Uncle!!

Isn't he grand! He is just swell. What the hell am I talking about? Well, Carl's niece, Portia, finally had her baby yesterday and if that is his sister's grandson what makes Carl... A grand freaking uncle. Man, it sound sooo old and we have not even conceive our child yet. Congratulate Carl when you see him! Make him feel a little old.

Younger Generation: Part 3

Carl's niece, the one that is pregnant got a credit card for her unborn child. What the hell!! Ruin the credit of the child before he even arrives.

Younger Generation: Part 2

I think this is sick and very wrong. You know when you were young, you think about getting attention but this is sick. Carl's nephew post a bulletin on his my space telling people that he will be deploy to Iraq tomorrow. So, Carl and I thought that he was which was not true. What kind of attention is this bullshit? America lost more than 58,000 service members in this war and he is making a joke and trying to get attention out of it.

Our younger generation

Today, Liz taught me to make a cherry pie. It is delicious. Gotta to stay away from the pie. Liz and I went to Wegmans, a fabulous grocery store in NJ and I drove Liz home, we encounter kids that has no manners and no understanding what green stands for. One of the kid in the group decided he wants to punch me as well because I yelled at them. I cannot believe 10 year kids has learn no respect towards their elders. What is our world coming to! Makes me think twice about procreating.

Paper Dolls

When I was a kid, I love playing with paper dolls. It was just so different than playing with Barbie. I actually hated Barbie. With paper dolls you can create your designer clothes using different kinds of construction paper and also you can draw laces, ribbons, taffeta on the paper. Well, meet Stardoll which is the new generation of paper doll. It is still fun but you can draw anymore.

Moving day 2

Am I exhausted! I finally have internet. Felt so deprived! So, now I am waiting for the movers and my fridge and also Verizon. I am hoping fridge gets here soon before movers. I can't believe how exhausting it is. I was planning to work but I can't even do it. I have taken 2 naps and ready for my 3rd. Carl is yelling on the other line because I need my beauty sleep. Molly is getting use to the place but still a bit timid. She was trying to see if she want to experience the balcony but decided it wasn't her cup of tea. She likes her daddy's play room and all the bathroom. So, this is life in my new house.

Top Chef

Dena had to remind me that it is the new season of Top Chef. I was not planning to watch but I did yesterday. We caught up. Carl and I are addicted again. I love cooking and I love the way this competition. I also wonder how the hell some of these people gt in. If it was me, how would I cook the eel and snake? Also, what would I make for a upscale barbecue? Would my lamb work? I can't wait till the next episode.

Hereos

Carl got me hooked on this show and I do love it. Well, I have been watching one of my favorite soap opera which is Guiding Light again. It has been awhile. I have not watched the show since I graduated from college(2001). One of my friends from one of my old college(UPitt) got me addicted. You are probably wondering how the hell does it relate to Heroes?

Well, the character that plays Lizzie Spaulding was played by Hayden Panettiere who plays Claire in Hereos. I knew she looked familiar.

Can't wait till the new season.

Finally a fridge has been purchase

It was a hard decision to find the perfect fridge but we did. We got a Ge and it is a beauty. I can't wait to move in and try all my new toys. Carl is packing and I am writing my blog. I like this. Well, we have to label everything that is fragile and those that aren't. Next Thursday, our movers will be here at 9 a.m. I can't wait. Only thing I dread is unpacking. Yuck!!

Can't wait for everyone to check out the place.

We have a grill!!

Dena drove us to Lowes to buy our grill. She got a nice red hot Matrix from Philly Car Share. It was a very nice car and I kinda regret not getting that car. oh Well! I got a grill. It is pretty and big and silver and has a side burner. I can't wait to use it. I am going to grill lamb, burger, corn, hot dogs, and many more. I can't wait!! So excited. Thanks Dena for being so kind and take us to get our grill.

Women In Art

My friend Cat sent me this lovely You Tube video today displaying 500 years of women in art. I really love this video. Enjoy!

PECO is a rip off

I cannot believe this. PECO energy is Philadelphia's only electric service provider. Since I am a new customer I have to pay PECO a $300 deposit to start my service. What happen if I don't pay? I don't get electric. This is a rip off.

Peco will hold on to my $300 deposit not for 3 months but for freaking 12 months and will return my deposit after I pay my bill on time. I don't give a shit if they give it back (well, yes I do) but for them to require a deposit to start your service. This is madness when there are the one and only electric company in Philadelphia and you have to pay up. What the hell! This is monopoly to its best. I still have to get Verizon and the only phone service provider in Philly. If they tell me they need a deposit, I will tell them to shove it up their ass.

I just want to thank those idiots who rip off the utility company and who does not pay on time or don't pay at all. This is what I have to do to get my electric.

Sorry a bit offensive but I am piss!!

A moment to self

It has been rather peaceful here. There are excitement in the air. I can't believe it is almost here. June 27th, Carl and I will moving into our first home together. There are so much to do but yet I don't feel anxiety. I can't wait. Our very first house!! I wonder if I will say this when our wedding approaches. But I am very happy and very content right now. There is not much to complain. Work is great. Life is great.

Memorial Day Weekend!

I have to say it was a fantastic weekend. We had a great time at Rico's house and celebrated his birthday. We still do not have a clue how old he is. Hmmm? We got back on Sunday and we rest. A thunderstorm hit and we were out of power for a while and the emergency generator in out building kicked in. Something happened to my bedroom TV from the storm. It no longer works. i wonder if it got electrocuted.

On Monday, we had a dinner barbeque with our friends. Nothing exciting but something very simple where we eat, be merry, watch TV, pick Dena from the airport, and nap. It was fun and we had a good time lounging around with friends. No, we have to get ready for the move.

Completion of our house!!

This is so exciting. I got a call from the seller regards to our settling date for our house. It will be completed and ready to move in on th 15th of June. I am so excited and thrill that we are moving into our first home together. I can't even believe I finally can buy a house.

are you right or left brained quiz?

I saw it on Dena's blog and I thought "INTERESTING". Here is my result.

You Are 45% Left Brained, 55% Right Brained

The left side of your brain controls verbal ability, attention to detail, and reasoning.
Left brained people are good at communication and persuading others.
If you're left brained, you are likely good at math and logic.
Your left brain prefers dogs, reading, and quiet.

The right side of your brain is all about creativity and flexibility.
Daring and intuitive, right brained people see the world in their unique way.
If you're right brained, you likely have a talent for creative writing and art.
Your right brain prefers day dreaming, philosophy, and sports.

Grey's Anatomy Finale

I love this show but the finale just piss me off. I know some people probably have not seen it yet but you know what Meredith gets on my nerve and so does Christina. Izzy is an idiot and so is Alex. George needs to get a clue of what he wants. He is always one character that annoys me. He gets the girl and he is not sure if he loves his wife or Izzy. Stupid characters!

Who Killed the Electric Car?

If you have not seen this movie, please rent it. It is so sad what happens to a car that is actually good for our world. The pressure from one major industry can eliminate a whole fleet of them. What is our world coming to?

Root Canal!!

i had my root canal today and it hurts but not so bad. Thank goodness to Advil. I love my endodontist. Dr. Trope is the best and I highly recommend him if you need one. He is very sweet and definitely knows what he is doing. I think I finally have all the best doctors in my life. I still do not like my neuro-opthamologist. He is not a very attentive doctor.

Happy Birthday to me!

Well, another year is gone and a new one just began. I started my birthday in a very bad note. I cried almost half the day and had to visit my headache specialist. My specialist thinks it might be time to change career because of what I am experiencing. So, I might.

On the other hand, all my friends call or email me wishing me Happy Birthday. Carl text me and bought me a beautiful card. He also got me a wonderful little purse to hold my spare money when I go running instead of taking my huge wallet. My doctor thinks it is great that I am working our again. My cousin, Jo text me and my dad even call, who sometimes forget.

It is half good and half bad. Maybe that will be my year. Thank you everyone who remembers!!

Valley Green Inn!

We met with the wedding coordinator at Valley Green Inn yesterday and it is more beautiful than I remember which was a week ago. The patio area for the wedding is so pretty and rustic and we love it. She will give us a discount because Carl and I decided to have the wedding on Friday. It is less crowded on Friday at 7 pm. We won't be having a clambake but a good old fashion American BarBQ.

Soy Cafe in Northern Liberties

I have been visiting the Soy Cafe for the past few days and I think I am hooked. Chinese people has been drinking soy milk for ages and when you mix a bit of Chai tea with soy milk...a perfect combination. so good!! I went there to get a smoothie because I have not really eaten due to my teeth and their sunshine smoothie is the best. But I decided to eat a little later that day and went back and got a soy chicken wrap. Oh! it was delicious. It has some wasabi sauce, garlic hummus, spring greens, carrots, avocado, and cucumber. I took enough Advil as I crunch on.

Meet the new king of Malaysia

Being born a Malaysian, I am very proud of this little country eventhough I had to give up my citizenship in 2003. Under Malaysia's rotational monarchy, the heads of each of the nine hereditary states occupy the throne for five years.

The king's role is largely ceremonial, with power in the hands of parliament and the prime minister.

Malaysia is the only country in the world to have a rotating monarchy.

I feel that this tradition is very fair.

My chessy girlie movies

I love cheesy movie and I know some of you know that. So, I recorded the "Prince and Me 2: Royal Wedding." Let me say, it is not the same without Julia Stiles. The new girl is pretty lame. But the prince is still HOT. They even have a new queen. This SUCKS!!!

Other than that, a bunch of us went to support Dining Out for Life. 33% of our dinner bill goes to various AIDS foundations in the area. We went to A Full Plate Cafe for dinner and I really enjoyed this restaurant. After a few of us went to Azure and I am neglecting to say the bar Carl recommended sucks. When we were at Azure, we ran into Mike and Rachel. With Mike, it is more like Carl chase him down but I had a great time. It is nice to have the gang together again.

My visit with my nuerosurgeon

It was a successful visit. The doctors and radiologist has confirm Kenny, the tumor is not a health treat. He can be a permanent resident in my brain for now. We will examine his condition and size in six months and after that if Kenny decide to stay in his petite tumor body, he can become a citizen of my brain.

But due to my headaches... I have to see a nuero-optomologist on the 19th. I was warn that I will be there for 3 hours of pure joy sitting with Carl in dilated eyes. Seems like the next two weeks, I have 1- 2 doctors' appt.

What a week!!!

We were told on Monday that our new home will be delay till June/July delivery. I also realized that we will be homeless because our apartment has been rented out. So, panic!! Thank goodness for wonderful friends, who are willing to share their space with us. On Wednesday, I spoke with our Apartment manager and she told us she won't kick us out and will tell the new tenant to take a look at another place. Whew! By Friday, I got an email from our manager that we have to check out another unit. The new tenant won't give up and might bring legal in. Yikes! No place to live again! By Saturday, I spoke to her... we will be moving downstairs. Not so bad and Carl decided he will unpack so a little. We might be staying till August or September.

In the mist of hell, Tuesday, Dena cooked a delicious Passover meal. Got a bit drunk from all those glasses of wine that I have to chug. I don't prefer to chug wine maybe tequilla. Let's bring some to Seder next time!

Thursday was girls' night and I was the organizer. Yay! So, we went to bump for $3 Martini. YUMM! Have 5 and felt fantastic! Karin found out our fabulous waiter was a DJ from her hometown, Kansas City. She used to listen to him every morning.

Saturday, we went dancing with Karin and Karen at the 700 club. I love that place! We use to hang out there alot during college years and after. We stop for several years because no one seem to want to go dancing until NOW. Now I found dancing friends and we can go back often. It is crampy at a certain time and sometimes... you will find one rude person that you want to smack. The best part there is no more smoking in there anymore.

A new addiction

Carl and I received a free preview of HBO and we decided to watch "Rome." After watching one episode, it just suck us in. I have to say this is a fantastic series. It is gruesome but I am able to turn my head into Carl's armpit or run to bathroom. Today, I subsribe to HBO so we can continue the saga. I can't wait till next week.

MRI

My next MRI is tonight and lucky me! I have to sit in that damn contraption for 45 minutes. Thank goodness that it is open not close or I will have my panic attack. I wish it will be easier for them to check my brains or Kenny out! If they could only design bionic glasses.

A jerk in action!

Milton Street said on Friday, March 2, 2007:

"You have these stores run by the Asians staying up until 2 in the morning," he said. "I'm going to shut them down by 9 o'clock... . What business do you have if you're not selling drugs?"

What does he mean by this? Is he being racist to the Asian community? As an Asian female in this country, I think he just offended me. I think he should really think before he speak or hire someone to write his speeches.

Here is the article: http://www.philly.com/mld/dailynews/news/local/16816414.htm

Our first purchase for the house

We just purchase our first appliance and it is the new front loader washer and dryer from Frigidaire. It has many various colors and we pick plain old white because it is cheap. So, we were able to save 1/2 price on the dryer and also get many fantastic rebates. The total rebates we got was $595. Oh, if you plan to buy appliances check out the ABC appliance store in Cherry Hill. Thanks Jen and Sally for your recomendation. The people are really helpful and friendly. Ask for Fred or Erin.

On Friday for lunch

My co-workers and I went to Border Cafe, which is no relation to Border's Bookstore, that serve very delicious Mexican food. I had a Tostado Grande salad which came with shredded beef and beans and guacomole and many more delicious stuff. It is sooo good that I can't help thinking of it. I think I am going to try to make the shredded beef for burritos or a salad. I found the recipe but have to see how I do before sharing it.

Kabob

I have no clue what is going on in my brain this week but I am addicted to Kabobs. I search for all kabob restaurant in Philadelphia. Last night, Carl and I had date night and we went to try the Aromatic House of Kabob in Olde City. We decide to try because it is around the corner from his job. Mike D, Steve, and Carl are always looking for places for lunch. Their lunch menu is pretty reasonable. We decide to share a platter because I was told by "expatdena" that it was huge. It was yummy but I stil love Kabobeesh in West Philadelphia. Today... I want to try the Sansom Street Kabob. I will let you how my addiction ends up at least it is not drugs or alcohol but foood.

Well, our apartment is filled with boxes and Carl is determined to finish packing before we move. Maybe two months ready. So, there is no longer a dining room table. He has started to put all my books away. There is an excitement in the air and we can't wait to move. So, sorry folks no one is allowed over till we move.

another restaurant week

We went to Farmicia and some people did not enjoy their food. But I love my fish. Next restaurant week, we decided it is Carl's turn to pick. Honestly we have to start a circle and have someone pick. Whoever came up with this idea... Brilliant!! So, Carl will pick the next one.

I love my friends

I was drunk and I make happy drunk calls. I started singing with Dena and talk to Corey and I tried someone else oh yes!!! My best friend, Jill. I like to harass her and talk about financial news and talk about the science and technology section of the NYT. Phouvy, the other best friend was not answering. California time and she was probably at work or with my cutie pretend niece. I am teaching her to say bad words. HE HE.

Yesterday, our package to pick design for our new home came and I realize wow!!! Carl and I are freaking homeowners. Bloody hell!! It is exciting yet scarry. Next year will be planning for our wedding. Carl and I have to pick a date now. So, I think we probably have a date. December 31st. New Year's Eve!!! I don't think so. They will charge me an arm and leg. I think somewhere in between so my family can fly from Australia and all over the world.

Hey,... you guys should harrass Carl? Why he gets really fluster and have you seen a black man get red and bother?? It is fun.

San Francisco

When I use to work at the library, I never had a chance to attend any conference that was away because I was not a librarian or actually nothing pertains to me. Wait!!! I did get to go to NYC for a photo conference.

Anyway, I found out that my team members and I might be getting together for a meeting in San Francisco. I can't wait. We will be going away the third week of Feb. I was thinking of taking my lover but I don't think he will have fun with us lame ducks. But we get business class flights maybe and probably some fancy hotel. Everything is paid for. We plan to hit the vineyards and other side trips as well. I have never been there and I will take advantage of it. Adrian and I are writing all these places we want to go. Like a Santa list. The fool wants to go to Lake Tahoe. What a nut!!!

I request Chinatown. Typical huh???

Thanks Brennen and Ryan!!

To the fantastic Lukas brothers...

Not only Brennen is a great friend, he got a brother that does mortgage and ease my pain. WOOHOO!! My brain is now more calmer and at ease. Feel my zen, folks!!! You have no clue wat hell I have been through. First, the sales manager is the most pushy lady. She believes she is right and keep pushing this horrible mortgage lady on me. She drove me nuts. I want to scream. She seem to not get it. I like the other lady better. I can't wait till everything is done and we can move in to our home.

The house purchase process

Hello all...

Carl and I have begun our second step as homeowners. We have signed the agreement of sale yesterday. How do we feel??? I feel all these emotions and he is excited. I hope everything will be fine and smooth. I am excited and can't wait to be in our own house. I can't wait to decorate my own kitchen and do not have to fight with neighbors to use the damn washers and dryers. I can relax in my own house and wash whenever I feel like it. Carl can decorate and remodel. That is the exciting but what is not exciting is the mortgage. So much to learn within a few weeks. I hope we will find one.

Planning to get us a housewarming gift... giftcards to home depot, lowes, ikea, target, best buy!! We would love that. HINT HINT

what a weekend!!!

This is our long weekend and we celebrated Martin Luther King's Day.

We began the weekend on Saturday, by taking Dena to the Italian Market to pick up the Turducken and brussel sprouts for the MLK feast day on Sunday. Later that day, we had friends over for football and Xbox games festival. Our friends' Rodrigo and Kim, brought their pup over.

Sunday was the Turducken festival. You might wonder what is a Turducken. It is a Turkey stuff with a duck and stuff with a chicken. Everyone came over for the dinner and it was als potluck night. I made the brussel sprouts. Dena was here early to make the Turducken because she was the host. My goal was not to make anything and I think I achieve some of it. I help her making some of the main course. We have green bean casserole, mash potatoes, brussel sprouts, black forrest cake, bread pudding with whiskey sauce, salad, tofurkey for vegan friends, and cheesy corn. We ate, watch football, play Xbox, and played Cranium. We also managed to keep everyone happy with the computers in the household.

Monday, we went out for a meat festival at Fogo de Chao. OMG!! It was delicious. 11 people join and it was fantastic. After wards, we went to see the new house. Actually, the show home. It was fabulous time and now we can go in a food coma.

Next Saturday, Carl and I will sign the documents for the new home.

We are in a process of trying to buy a house

The process is very scary!

Very scary!

It is making me very sensitive at very different level and I can cry at a drop of anything.

Frustration of calling City of Philadelphia's Departments

I swear that these people do not work or that they need more people. I know it is not even close to tax season, why is it taking them more than 5 minutes to answer the freaking phone. I have been on hold that seem to be forever and it is so frustrating. I am sick of hearing "we re sorry for the delay, you will be connected to the next available agent." AHHHHHH!

No one is answering. I got this notice and I think they are bullshitting me.

Our new love

For the meat lover in you, we have found a place for you to go to and also a challenge. Carl and I have been looking for a fantastic steak place and we have found one. This place is called Fogo de Chao. It is a all you can eat 16 varieties of meat. They have pork, lamb, chicken, and beef.

They even have a fantastic salad bar that have smoked salmon and this amazing artichoke heart soaked in balsamic vinegratte. You also get side orders which is fried bananas (a.k.a plaintains), garlic cheese mash potatoes, fried polenta, and these wonderful fluffy bread with cheese in the middle.

All I have to say was Carl and I was in heaven. People walked around with skewers and carved meat for you. I love their garlic beef. They also have filet mignon wrapped in bacon which is Carl's favorite. Actually Carl loved everything. We were they for lunch and went back with Kim and Kim and Rodrigo for dinnner. I recommend we should get a group of people for lunch rather than dinner. Lunch is 24.50 and they served the same meat like dinner. It is cheaper.

What is the challenge??? They have a disc on the table that is green for keep bringing me the meat and red is to stop bringing me the meat. Carl and I can't do it. I want to see who can go for at least 10 minutes without flipping the disc.

Molly's new fascination

OK! I know I have the weirdest cat. Maybe because Carl and I spoil her or we just do not believe in her being a wimpy cat. Well, yesterday, she became fascinated with the shower. Carl started screaming for me while he was in the shower. I thought he fell. I came running in. Actually I strolled fast. I found Molly hanging on the back end of the tub checking out the water and the bubbles bouncing off Carl. By the time, the shower is done, Molly was wet and the head is fill had bubble on top. I had to dry her with a tower.

I thought it might be a one day thing but she came back this morning when I was in the shower. his time she tried to something new. She try to come in the shower. I had to shooed her away. I did not want her to get scorch with the hot water. But this persistent little devil keep coming back and was drench again. I cannot be angry with her. She is too cute.

Geomagnetic Storm

Every morning, I listen to the news and I heard from Good Morning America that we will be expecting a "Geomagnetic Storm" at 1 pm today, Thursday, 12.14.2006. That is so cool. Sound like something from X-Men or Smallville. What does it mean? Your cell phone or GPS device will not be working so well. Cool!!

As winter comes...

I want to cook more. I don't know why? I go through these weird moods that I want to bake and cook and I make tons of food. I like to be at home and I don't want to be near anyone. Is that depression? I am also getting ill. My throat is hurting and I am getting cranky.

I just also like to be sleeping. Maybe I want to be a bear so I can hibernate. I was also thinking about investing in a electric blanket. My bed is so cold when I get in. I want it to be toasty. Mmmm toasty warm. I wish electric is free!!

Carl's love of cleaning has seem to create some problems!!

Ok first we all know how Carl loves to clean... well, this has created some issue in our household.

First of all, his passion to have a clean house is great but it sometimes it confused me where things are.

On Thursday, I arrived at work and I realized my badge to enter the buuilding was no where to be found. I work 45 minutes away from work and there was no way I will drive home and get my badge. That means I have to walk mile from the parking lot to the front of the building and sign my name in. Hopefully the security do not ask me to call my manager to get me because I do not have his number handy. Also, that day, MBNA was having a sale on their old products like shirts that they no loger need since they are now Bank of America. I have been walking from the back to the front of the building. twice. I got my exercise that day.

Saturday... I made Carl some steak. Dena parents bought us some HP steak sauce (much better than A1 steak sauce). He had no idea where he put them. Two steak sauce MIA. Do you believe this! I was ready to kill him but I hope he learn from his cleaning experience of how annoying it is. He spend an half an hour searching for it.

I still have not found my new Ann Taylor shirt because of his cleaning.

Fire alarm at 2 a.m

We were awoke by inconsiderate human beings at 2 a.m. They thought it was funny to pulled the fire alarm. So, we evacuated the building and I had to grab the poor kitty. Molly no longer fit in her carrier and I had to throw it away. So, I had to put her in one of my Whole Food bags. She cried like a baby. Carl had to carry her out because she is a tough kitty.

Carl put us in the car so I could calm her down. She was not having it. Poor thing was a nervous wreck. I thought. Well, Carl decide to find out what was going on. He came back and sat in the car with us and I hand the kitty over. The damn cat did not want me. She wanted her daddy. Thanks for digging your claws in me. She was a total softy when Carl was holding her. Just watching the crowd and the animals pass her by.

Anyway, I think the jerk who pulled the fire alarm needs to be put in jail or something. That was rididulous for disrupting our sleep and pet lives at 2 a.m.

WEGMANS!

Dena and I went to Wegmans on Sunday and I love it. Actually Carl and I went first on Saturday and he rush me through it. I decided I had to go back. I thought as I walked in to the store, I heard the angels of the supermarket sing. This store is amazing. I love the section for the appliances. Actually I love the olive and hummus bar. I love the food court! I love evrything! I am so glad Wegmans is in the area!!

Kids in my neighborhood!

I really can't stand little rugrats that parents do not teach them any morals. So, I drove home and I always go through this alley to get home. It is not this dingy alley. It is by a school and these kids usually play basketball around there. So, there were five kids who were playing football and I slowed down. So, one little rugrat decide it was hilarious to trhow acorn at my car. I heard a thump. I was like "NO HE DID NOT". Stop my car and reverse back. They ran back to their homes. I decide to stop my car in the middle of the street and chase them down in my stiletto heels. They ran back to their projects. I shouted at them. Your little rats... that is a brand new car. I decide to get my big bad fiance and he said no. He said "You better watch out, they might have guns." Come on, these kids are five years old."

I want a puppy

I mean it. I want to adopt a french bulldog and I have been in love with them for a while. So let's see if Carl would let me.

End of Restaurant Week!!

This Restaurant Week, I was able to attend 2 restaurants and boy, were there yummy. The girls went to Bistro 7 on Thursday night and then on Friday we went to Haru for Japanese.

I love Bistro 7 because it reminded me of comfort food. I had Gnocchi, Chicken with wild mushroom, and jasmine rice pudding with caramel sauce.

Haru is good as well for it's Japanese. I love my Banana Spring Roll. I love my appetizer, which is a Wasabi Roll and my entree, Sushi and Sashimi Entree. This time boys were allowed. Carl has Carb dumpling, Salmon terriyaki, and lemon sorbet. BORING!!

I am glad we went to these restaurant. I can't wait till next restaurant week. JANUARY!!

He was actually eating fried pig brains sandwhich and Carl told me about his dad's love of pig's brain and could not find it. I thought he was kidding and he showed me this site. I decide to do a screen shot and show you all. Take a look and this and please check out the cholestrol level of this food. I think I stick to SPAM!!

Next day after party

Carl's sister and her two girls came down for a visit. She went to start her car and it won't start and we notice we smell gasoline. Strange I said. She said it was normal. Carl came over with a cigarette. I freak. Car can explode. RIGHT???

So, I was like what is going on. I called AAA because I need to tow car to mechanic to check this out. AAA said not good. I notice somthing dripping and it was coming near her gas tank. Gas is leaking. AAA said they won't tow till fire department has been call so they plug the leak and something else. Whatever the strong firemen does. Also because in case if they is a leak and someone throw a CIGARETTE out the window and there won't be an EXPLOSION. SHIT!!! and GREAT!! who was just smoking, my smart and genius fiance!! After fire department has ok eveything they will tow it.

Fine! I call fire department and told them please do not make a commotion. It is no a FIRE! I just have a leak and I need you to do your thing. They saw this is common. They came. I say Hey! sexy firemen!! They told me that on my street that I live on that somone has been vandalizing the gas line. Wonder if they are stealing gas due to the rise of prise??? HMMM? Anyway, got it tow and it is being fix.

Also, got a call from Mike D.'s ASSHOLE wife. (Sorry Mike! I love you and care about you. I know you read this blog.) She called giggling and laughing thinking it is hilarious telling us the news. Her husband whom she has rushed to the ER has showed all symtoms of a heart attack. FYI: Mike had a heart attck when he was 35.

She called again with her laughing and giggly self, which offended us, told us the news, that it was leading to a massive one. He was smart to go when he did. He is at Hahnemman. He is Room 2106 and if you wish to send him a card to wish him well please. I want to piss that evil BITCH off. She thinks nobody cares about Mike D.

Birthday party for Jen and Dena!!

Throwing a Chinese banquet dinner party for Jen and Dena was a success I believe and hope all think so. We had an 8 course meal and I thought the the dishes would never stop. We had it at one of Dena and my favourite (Carl's too) Lee How Fook. We had to doggie bag our meals and encourage everyone to take the leftovers home too. Sally brought the cake and everyone love that too. The place we had the dinner was also BYOB and everyone brought wine. BOOZE+DELICIOUS FOOD= :-) I love a sucessful party. The next day... read on.

Our weekend trip to Baltimore!

This weekend, we decided to take a trip to Baltimore because my co-worker threw a graduation party for her daughter. She lives half and hour from the city so why not stay and relax. We never actually went together and check out the city. We had fun and ate seafood. Don't ask me to eat seafood again. I can't do it. We had all you can eat sefood buffet on Saturday and Sunday. I can't. we also hadthis horrible breakfast at this place call Peacock Cafe. It was horrible and so freakin expensive. My omelet is horrible. Service was SLOW. I preferred my Honey's.

We went to the aquarium and it was fun. If you are in the area, check it out. The pictures are up too.

What's NEW!!

HMMM! I just realized it has been ahile since I posted anything on my blog. So, this is what is new...

I found my wedding gown and have order it from JCrew. Yes, JCrew! I am very happy that I am not spending $1000 but $285. Carl and I have finally finished repholstering the furniture. There are no longer wood. The entire thing is cover with material. Pictures will be up soon on the photo gallery. Also, my car has made 4300 miles in 3 months. I have bought a 100,000 miles extended warranty for it. That is how much I commute. UGH!!! I love the job but hate the commute. OH well!! Next, We have decided we are planning for an elopement. When? We do not know. Where? San Diego.

We want to elope and don't want to invite family. We just want to bring our close friends and maybe some family. Rico which is Carl's best man and my brother. We have not finished planning but probably have a big party later but right now we want to buy a house. Save money to buy a house.

Hangin with my dad

I finally showed my dad "my ring." This was his comment. Nice! Not Nice! but a low key Nice! So non Chalant. That's my dad. Anyway, my Uncle Chris, Aunt Vicki, and my little cousin Brandon and Dylan came to visit and Grandma too. So, Carl, Nick and Shannon and I join them. The devil, my mother did not join.
My cousin, Dylan, has a fear of my mom actually does not like my mom. I do not blame him. So, I sort of look like my mom and he is afraid of me too. I am sad by that. I keep telling him I am not the devil. My dad told me to stop that.
We went out for dinner and my dad took us to the Chinese pastry store. Shannon, my brother's girlfriend was teasing us. She kept pointing out that we needed a wedding topper for our wedding cake. So, at the pastry store, my dad always ask if we want anything. I say Carl, do you want anything. My dad turn around and ask quickly Carl do you need anything? I said a wedding cake. Gave me a not amused look. Shannon came over to us... so, I play the same prank. Shannon, do you need anything? My dad turn around quickly and ask Shannon, if she needed anything. I said a wedding topper. This time I got the death look. It was fun. If you have no idea what a wedding topper is... It is the ornament with the bride and groom. Poor Shannon was embarassed.

Joys of Vonage Subsriber!!!

I was reading the Vonage site and just like Dena having advantage to call Canada for free, I am finally able to call the UK for free. I can call my cousin as much as I want. I am so excited. I can't wait to email her and tell her about my exciting news. Not only that, I have finally convinced my parent to join Vonage. Vonage rock my world!

I just realized...

I have something hilarious to blog and tell everyone. I went with friends to a sex toy store the other day. Exploring and checking out things. So, the hilarious thing was that in the middle of asking questions about toys for the female... Guess who call? My future father-in-law.

I told Carl's sister, Angel and she could not stop laughing. Carl's dad is very religous. He would be asking me 101 questions and where I was. I did not answer the phone. I felt like I have sin. As a good Catholic girl I am, maybe I should attend confession. YEAH RIGHT!!!

Finally AIR!!!!

I did not have chance to breathe last week due to deadlines and now I can smell some fresh air. AHHHH! So, guess what? I have no clue what to do. Isn't that always the case. Anyway, still have tons of stuff to do. I have to call the lady or I think you call her the wedding caterer at the place in San Diego to see what the deal is. Last week due to stress and anger and frustration, I was ready to KILL... CARL. Sound like the terminator. Isn't that always the case for me!

I feel much better this week. We are going to Virginia to see Jaden. He is almost 11 months and making tons of noises. He has decided learning to crawl or walk is stupid, I think. He decided learning to talk and scream is more important. I can't wait to spend some time with him. Maybe I can teach this little one to say "Aunt Micaela." Those other nieces and nephews of Carl won't budge, maybe HOPELESS. Just wait till X'mas, lump of coal I say! OK Bedtime... Carl will be hollering in a few.

Just a little time to breathe please!

I love my new job but it has been so hectic that I hardly have anytime to breathe. I finally slept for 10 hours. I was so happy. I have been sleeping for 5 hours get up and go straight to work. Thank God Rachel and Becca went out with me on Friday for some girls time and I love it. That was some sanity for me. Anyway, life is good. It is hectic but I still love it.

Things that happen while I was on Vacation!!

Vacation was great until you get an unexpected phone call from someone you don't care to hear from. Honestly, the home phone is fine. LEAVE A MESSAGE!!! but the cell phone at six o'clock in the morning! How RUDE!!! I told someone to erase my cell phone number but OH NO they won't what procedure. I am not going to argue with you because I am still jet lag next time such phone calls from such person, I will hang up or rude comments will come out of my mouth. Worse of all, I was half asleep, I get commented why I was on vacation. NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!

Then, our wonderful cat sitter told us our little terror has done her duty while we were away. She pushed my gardenia plant over from the kitchen cabinet. Mike cleaned up after her and laughed. She drop soil in her food and water. She also learned a new trick. She opened the bathroom door. She tore our toilet paper into beautiful art. Mike left the art behind. She shredded it into feathery art and as anal as her dad is. She piled her beutiful artwork into ball. She did not want the mess to be all over the place. Mike wanted us to see her contemporary art work in the bathroom. I thought he was kidding but sure enough, there it was.

While we were in vacation, we found our wedding spot in San Diego and also we fell in love with a GPS system. Carl broke his camera that Canon gave him when they made 10 billion in sales. We decided it was time to invest in another one. We bought a 6 megapixel SD630.

Home Sweet Home!

I think nine days was a bit too long to be on vacation. I am so glad to be home. California was beautiful and the scenery was amazing. We still love San Diego. I think we have found our wedding spot in La Jolla. We still are looking but I just love San Diego. We finally visited the Getty Museum and went to the Kodak Theater. We also went to Balboa Park in San Diego. We took tons of pictures. Carl broke his camera and we had to get one for him. In our household, we do not share cameras. We have tons of photos as usual. I will chat and tell everyone about the trip.

One more day of work and let my vacation begin!

I am so excited and so is Carl. He kept asking how many days are we going to be in California. Doesn't he sound like a kid?? I said we are leaving Saturday 5/20 and coming back Sunday 5/28. 9 days right? We have Memorial day off, so we can rest up before work. He kept complimenting, how well I plan this vacation. He is so excited. So, am I. SLEEP and relaxation!!!! 4 days in San Diego and 5 days in LA. I think he is excited to go back to Disneyland. We are also taking the baby to Disneyland. WOOHOO! I finally convinced my best friend to take the baby out of the house. Also, plan to check out some wedding spots in San Diego. I know we want Jamaica or somewhere in the Carribeans but still have to have options. We will see everyone in a week and look out for postcards and probably we will drop you a line or two. I know I will.

HOORAY for the hippies!!!

Season finale for the Amazing Race was awesome and my favourite team won!! YAAYYY!! I was so excited. For my friends, who do not like my hippie boys, blah to you. I was so excited. I knew the final challenge that they would win. Carl wanted the Frat boys to win but sorry they did not have the brains. Anyway, I thought it was fair. Eric and Jeremy, frat boys, was first in many challenges and they won alot of great prizes.

PS: I did not appreciate frat boys making fun of Japanese people. That was rude.

Boohoo! It is bedtime.

I came home from work at 6 p.m and I went to hang out with the girls to have a rant fest. We needed one. I have to complain about planning a wedding and how our moms are being. Before I know it it is 9:30 p.m. I got home shower and check my email and stuff. I can't check my gmail at work. Do you believe it is 10:23 p.m. Carl is going to start yellin "Little, watch your time!" He means... It is time for you to go to bed. I am so sad. I have to wake up at 5:30 a.m and my drive starts at 6:30 a.m. I want to stay just a bit longer. Don't I sound just like a little kid. Just another minute!

Now we are engage!

Hoenstly, people don't ask me for a date! When an invitation arrives that's the date. There will be two celebration I have decided.

Work has me so swamp that I barely have time to eat my lunch. I have no energy to even have time for Carl. Carl thinks I have change. Just because I am too tired to have sex. Is that any different from any other day? Folks want to call him and tell him the truth? He thinks the theory that once you are engage the person will change. If I have time to descramble my brain, realize and celebrate my engagement, I will be happy. Reality has not hit me. Maybe next weekend on my trip to California!!

It is so sad but work as a Graphic User Interface Designer for MBBNA/Bank of America has truely consume my energy level. Don't get me wrong...I love this job. It sounds horrible but it is challenging and I love that about it. You might never understand. An easy description of what I do is putting a jigsaw puzzle together on a website using almost no tables.

Engagement!

Well, who would have thought that after 7 years of dating, Carl would finally be ready to settle down. I almost gave up and was ready to move on. On my birthday, the boy said he was ready to commit. I was like what!!!!!?? I was totally clueless.

Ready for what? I told him to stop playing. We were at the store looking at jewelery and I was teasing and went looking at rings. He was ready to buy the ring. I freaked out. I told him to stop being a comedian. It was almost closing time. I feel bad for the sale guy and I told him this is a big purchase and Carl and I needed to TALK!!. So, we left and we were actually talking to his sister, Angel on the phone at the time. She was so excited. She was screeching and laughing. I did not think it was funny, honestly.

Actually I was freaking out. I was scared. We discuss and I asked him are you ready or am I preasuring you. I did not want to be one of those woman that was pressuring him to settle down. I want him to be at his own time. I don't want any regrets. He said I am my own person.

We call my aunt and she gave her blessing. The next day we found the ring that I love. You can view the ring on our photo gallery. The rest of the story can also be read on the gallery as well. Read on.

Wet Platinum!!!

Further discussion later!!!!

Here is my story...

I went to a store call Passionale in South Street with my friends, Rachel and Dena. Saw a product call Wet Platinum. Would you trust using this stuff on your body????

It is for intercourse. If you are sensitive about reading this subject don't please. This product description is to provide longer lasting glide during intercourse. Yes! Sounds great huh! Also, great for moisturizing body massage and skin conditining. Sounds very .... how should we describe it slippery. Next description... also revitalizes dry leather and latex clothing. Would you trust this product for intercourse??? Carl will be using this product to revitalize the leather seats in his car.

A joke I played on Carl!

This weekend, Dena and I took a shopping trip to Christiana Mall in Delaware. Judy, when you come to visit, I will take you to on a trip Delaware if schedule permits to shop. It is the land of tax free shopping.

Here is the story... I am sure Dena and Rachel and Jen told. I went to Lord and Taylor to browse. Yes to browse! I saw jewelry (did I spell this right) sale. HE HE! 50% and extra 20% What a deal! So I saw this beautiful ring. It is a very modern style design band ring. The original price is $375 and I got it for $135. I love it. It has diamonds. I did not care who bought it for me. My parents or my aunt or Carl but I was buying it. I was getting money from family members anyway so why not for my big 30th birthday. I told Dena I was going to bill Carl as well.

I got home that night before Carl. When he got back. I said to him "Thank you" for your nice gift. I hid my finger from him. He said what did you and Dena do now. I gave him the bag with the receipt and the box. He was puzzle when he look at the box and the receipt. I told him he owe me the money. I gave him the ring. He said that was a nice ring. He was a bit tipsy. He HE!!!

I gave him my right hand and said he should get on his knees. He told me to go to Hell! Anyway, the poor sucker put it on my right finger and I told him that since he put it on my right ring finger, we are engaged. Don't take it seriously folks! It is a joke. I love my ring. It is a birthday gift! Just another funny story to tell you.

My car has arrived!

Today I drag Carl and Dena to check out my new car. It has arrived from the port of NY. The color is "Black Sand Pearl". Dena, my gadget inspector friend, made sure everything was there. She made sure my future Ipod has a plug. Carl made sure his flat screen TV or trinkets from Ikea can fit in the back with the seat folded down. Our current car's back seat does not fold down. Luxury is beautiful but inadequate and just for looks if you want my opinion. I check the hood like my dad would. It is too cute. Yes it has the cutest engine. I love it! Can't wait to drive my friends around. Just up and down the block. Oh, I forgot incase you ask I got the base four door sedan Yaris not the S version.

The hunt for a new car

I can't believe what a headache it is to buy a new car. Today, I took Carl and Nick, my brother with me to the Toyota delaership to find "my car". My mom insist she can find me the deal of the lifetime but this woman insist on me buying the car of "her dream." Yeah right! We went from Conshohocken to Cherry Hill. Poor Carl's BMW! It really needs some serious repair.

Oh I can say this now and I won't get fired. Damn the "Street" Philadelphia potholes is killing the BMW. I think I seiously killed the alignment as well as the shocks. Also, where the hell is my PA and Philadelphia taxes going. Can I select where my tax money should be distributed to? 95S needs some serious repairs especially when you come out from the damn ramp out of Olde City.

Ok I am done with ranting. Back to car shopping. I finally found the "car." I cannot find a use car that is at a reasonable price range. So, Toyota came out with the Yaris. The price was right. Cherry Hill Toyota provided me a fully loaded car but it still has be deliver from the port. The dealer also has to see if the car I want has the color I want also. This car is actually fresh of the boat from Japan folks.

It is cute. Good size for me. I am just sad that I have to dump this amount of cash out. I do not care how much I make, I do not want to have a car payment. Bummer!!!! The car insurance is also freaking expensive. What the f______!!! I just want to say to all bad drivers and uninsured drivers in Philly that made my premium so high... Shame on you better yet you %^^$#@$%%^&%#@!$&*:">(. AHHH much better! Anyway when my new car gets in I will take a picture. For now check it at the Toyota site.

New JOB!!

I love my new job! I have no computer access but I love my new job. I have my own phone line. At the library, we has to share and fight one extension with 6 people. It is a much hectic work environment but we have so many people that are willing to help you. The resources are unlimited. We have a cafeteria that makes you delicious sandwiches and a fantastic hot bar and also a yummy saladbar like whole foods with soup. We also have breakfast bar too that will make omelet. Yes, I am loving it.

Most important... I can get Starbucks coffee.

My managers are really great. I already love them.

Our First Passover Seder

It was a great tradition. Too much wine and I will definitely stick with grape juice and we have to start early next year or I have to take a day off.

If you have no clue what I am talking about because you are not Jewish I guess you have to research or ask the great Dena. I am still trying to figure out if Elijah has any connection with St. Nick. Read it or get invited to the Seder next year?

Dena thank and the meal was fabulous. Sorry we can't stay longer. We had to work the next day.

Continue about my new job...

Goals for my pet can achieve...

You know how parents have goals they wish their kids can achieve well I have goals that I wish Molly can achieve. Yes I have high standards for my pet.

She already watches TV.
She understand come here.
She understand stay and no and dinner.
She box as Liz puts it eventhough I think she slaps me on purpose when I sleep especially when it is 5 am.

But watch this video. Do you think Carl can train her to do this? I love how I say Carl not me Carl. She works better with Carl. I can see it now one day when we have kids. Carl will be toilet training. Not me. Carl. He has more patience.
